Privacy, in plain language.

Audience measurement should answer editorial questions without turning readers into profiles.

Common Measure offers public reading without creating an account. It does not maintain public reader profiles, sell audience data, use advertising trackers, or ask for financial details.

Audience measurement

Common Measure uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate audience activity and site performance. The owner can see measurements such as pageviews, estimated visitors, popular pages, referring sites, countries, device types, browsers, and page performance. Bot traffic can be excluded when interpreting the audience report.

Cloudflare describes Web Analytics as privacy-first and cookie-free and states that it does not collect or use visitors’ personal data or track people across different customers’ websites. These measurements identify patterns, not named individuals. They cannot prove that every visitor is a distinct person, and ad blockers or disabled JavaScript can reduce the count.

Your calculator entries

Calculator inputs stay in the current browser page. The application does not send them to its server or store them after you leave or reload. Search text is processed on the page; topic links and URL search parameters can appear in normal web request logs. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not report URL query strings.

Hosting and sign-in

Cloudflare processes requests and may keep operational or security logs, including IP addresses and browser information, under its own policies. We cannot promise that the hosting infrastructure keeps no logs.

Owner access is prepared for Cloudflare Access but remains locked until the owner activates that service. Public readers do not need an account. If owner access is enabled later, Cloudflare will process the owner’s sign-in and use an authentication cookie. The application verifies a signed session and a server-side owner allowlist; it does not make the owner’s identity public.

Stored information

The publication database stores public source evidence, articles, editorial settings, revision history, held items, and job logs. It does not store reader profiles or calculator entries. Job logs are kept for up to 90 days. Published content and revision history remain until the owner exports or removes them.

External websites

Source links take you to other websites with their own privacy practices. No public message form is active; a contact destination has not yet been configured.

Changes

This notice should be updated before accepting reader submissions, adding reader accounts, changing analytics providers, or adding external services. It describes the current application; it is not a claim of legal certification.
